Gold Ikebana Headpiece
One of the most difficult decisions I faced while planning my wedding was what kind of headpiece to wear. Having designed and constructed custom couture tiaras for the past decade you can well imagine the dilemma I faced. Should I wear something elaborate or simple? Modern or traditional? Silver or gold? For quite some time I had no idea.
What finally made the decision crystal clear was when I went to the San Francisco atelier of Colleen Quen to try on my gown for my fitting and I brought two headpieces with me. One understated the other very flirty!
For those of you familiar with Colleen's impeccable designs you know that her gowns are the epitome of French couture. Which meant that my accessories had to complement the look of her incredible gown. When I tried on this sample with the gown her first comment was that this piece looked "so French!" and I had to agree.
I was a bit concerned that my groom might be put off by my choice but he wasn't.
This was such an incredibly fun piece! The wires with their delicate beaded flowers, Swarovski Austrian crystals and vintage beads moved to and fro just like branches stirred by a gentle breeze. The piece is incredibly light and once on I forgot it was even there until guests commented on it.
The fun part is I can wear it again to almost any special event like a great gallery opening, a cocktail party or even a black tie event.
